Brief Introduction to Alabama
Alabama (AL) is located on the Gulf Coast of the southern United States; bordering Tennessee, Mississippi, Georgia, and Florida.

Alabama boasts 22 state parks and has something for everyone who loves the outdoors.  Six of the state parks have resorts. Some of the parks also have golf courses among many other activities. Famous for auto racing, Talladega Superspeedway hosts national high speed racing and many notables among the famous race car drivers. NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center, in Huntsville, AL, built the first rocket to put man on the moon. AL has a monument to the boll weevil, which is found in Enterprise, AL. In the early part of the 19th century, AL had wooden roads. "Old Plank Road" which is over 4 miles long is the most well known of these roads. The official drink of AL is an alcoholic beverage: Conecuh ridge Whiskey, the official "State Spirit," which is actually manufactured in Dallas, TX.

  • Birmingham, AL: Alabama Jazz Hall of Fame - If the sounds of Duke Ellington, Erskine Hawkins and Nat King Cole, excite you, then visit the Alabama Jazz Hall of Fame, Birmingham, AL. The Hall of Fame was originally founded in 1978 and built in an art-deco style. It is a grand museum that features artists with ties to Alabama.
  • Alabama Zoo elephantBirmingham, AL: Birmingham Zoo – As of 2015, this zoo has been serving the community for 60 years! The staff keep the zoo featured with ever changing themes and projects which also includes many different classes. This incredible zoo is spread out over 122 acres and houses more than 950 animals. The zoo works to preserve animal species and events. Come, educate yourself and your children about the exciting animal kingdom!
  • Point Mallard ParkDecatur, AL: Point Mallard Park - Point Mallard is an exciting family gathering place because of all of the facilities and activities for the whole family. Among the features of this wonderful park are a large covered pavilion that will handle groups up to 500 people. There is a three mile hiking/biking trail, three baseball fields, sand volleyball, a large wave making swimming pool, large picnic grounds, an open air prayer chapel, fishing on the Tennessee River, 200 acre golf course and a driving range, among others. Many great events and annual festivals are also featured for the public.
  • Dothan, AL: Adventureland Theme Park is located in Dothan, AL. Adventureland Theme Park (amusement park) is open every day of the year!  The great theme park includes a snack bar, bumper boats, arcade batting cages, mini golf, party packages, group packages,and Go-Karts! Perfect for great family fun!
  • Noccalula Falls trainGadsden, AL: Noccalula Falls (see also: Features/Hours/ Seasons) – Noccalula Falls, named for the legendary indian maid, Noccalula, is located in Gadsden, AL and features many memorable experiences of the outdoors, including camping, Mini-Golf, a train, a pioneer village, cabins, botanical gardens, the falls(!) a petting zoo, trails, campgrounds, and more. Events can be scheduled for park use.
  • Gulf Shores & Orange BeachGulf Shores and Orange Beach, AL: Everyone loves sparkling clean white sand beaches! This 32-mile long stretch of soft sand and clear waters is the ideal getaway. Attractions include nature trails, water sports, championship golf, deep-sea fishing, picnic, swim, championship vollyball, music festivals, The City of Gulf Shores Fourth of July Fireworks celebration, local fine food, a great visitors center, and whatever you can imagine to on these beautiful beaches.   • Huntsville Botanical GardensHuntsville, AL: Huntsville Botanical Garden - Open year round, this beautiful aquatic garden is filled with a wide variety of specialty gardens and various plant collections. This garden boasts a Children's Garden housing the nation's largest seasonal butterfly house and many gardens set to thrill the youngsters. The garden hosts family festivals including annual summer exhibits. There is a gift shop, educational programs for everyone, and facility rental options.
  • Huntsville, AL: EarlyWorks Museum – The EarlyWorks Family of Museums ("Three museums-one incredible adventure" provides hands-on learning. Located in Huntsville, AL, The EarlyWorks Family of Museums "will take you on a journey back in time."
  • Space ShuttleHuntsville, AL: U.S. Space & Rocket Center – The U.S. Space & Rocket Center delivers great fun and adventure, with regular events. Located in Huntsville, AL, Dr. Wernher von Braun, with his team, turned what was formerly known as the "Watercress Capital of the World, into the second largest research center in the U.S. now known as the U.S. Space & Rocket Center. Here rockets were developed that put the first U.S. satellite into orbit and developed the technology that was able to send men to the moon. Many more technologies were developed and continue to be developed today. There are exhibits featuring hardware from the space program. In addition to tourist attractions, educational programs are also available.
  • Midway, AL: Wehle Nature Center – The Wehle Nature Center in Midway, AL is located on 25 acres of rolling hill country in Bullock County. The nature center is designed to enhance the appreciation for conservation and "features conservation and environmental education exhibits aimed at both students and adults." Many features are available for meetings.
  • USS Alabama Battleship Memorial ParkMobile, AL: USS Alabama Battleship Memorial Park - This is a chance to relive the ships of World Ward II, this is your opportunity. Docked along the waterfront this 680 foot ship is a floating museum. This ship commenced a shakedown training on 11 November 1942. This great battleship conducted maneuvers in the company of the USS South Dakota from Norfolk and up the coast runs to Casco Bay. The USS Drum submarine is located near the USS Alabama is the oldest submarine on display in the world. The USS Drum requires about two or more hours to see all of it.
  • Montgomery, AL: Hank Williams Museum – The Hank Williams Museum is located in Montgomery, AL and is billed as one of the top tourist attractsions. Hiram (Hank) Williams sang country music that touched the hearts of Americans. He was known as the father of contemporary country music. Born in September 1923, he started formed a band after his mother moved the family to Montgomery and passed away in January of 1953 at the age of 29. He became a legend in country music. The Hank Williams Museum includes tours, and a gift shop.
